Baloo, Buyan and Bonya – September 12 the bear cubs were returned to the forests of the region they were born.

The cubs were delivered to OBRC February 28 by the specialists of the Committee for the Protection, Control and Regulation of the Use of Fauna in the Leningrad Region. The bear cubs became orphaned due to the logging not far from the den. Fortunately, foresters saw the bear running away, and after a while, they heard the squeaks of cubs and found the den. There were three cubs in the winter bear shelter.

Foresters hoped the female bear would come and left the cubs in the den. The workers informed the Committee about it. The state inspector came to the place and took the bear cubs (the female bear did not come back as it was supposed). Fortunately several hours of being in the den without mother did not affect the bear cubs what could lead to pneumonia – the baby bears were not so small and the winter was not cold – these factors saved them from the death.

Three brothers - three bears! By the release time, our wards gained significant weight: Buyan - 39 kg, Bonya - 43 kg, and Baloo even more - 44 kg! The place where the triplets were released was selected by the specialists of the Committee for the Protection, Control and Regulation of the Use of Fauna Objects of the Leningrad Region and it met all the necessary requirements, including the availability of a food base for the cubs and protected den stations.

The brothers were immobilized and transported to the release place without ane complications. Together with the cubs, we traveled 800 km over 13 hours (part of the way was off-road) and, after signing the necessary documents, BALU, BUYAN and BONYA left towards a free life in the forest!
