August is the time when the bear cubs are ready to be released to the wild. But to be sure that we return healthy animals to the wild, in addition to regular examinations during the cubs are at the Center, we together with the wildlife experts from Wild Nature Hospital, conduct an obligatory examination of all cubs before releases.

Brown bear is a serious animal, and it is impossible to examine it with "bare hands". Using modern medicines and equipment we immobilize the cubs (it is not dangerous for them), carry out the necessary procedures while they are sleeping, including taking samples for analysis, measuring temperature, heart rate, examining ears, teeth, measuring all parameters and weighing, etc. As well, the cubs are vaccinated against rabies, and treated against parasites.

This year there are 18 orphan bear cubs at OBRC and veterinarian examinations took us two days. The results of the examination and analysis confirmed that the bears are healthy: all cubs, except Puzha, gained enough weight for wintering and could be returned to the wild.
