On our way back home from the republic Karelia with first 2 orphan bear cubs, we received information about two more cubs left without a mother.

This time the tragedy in a bear family occurred in the Vologda region. According to people who handled the brother and sister to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Vologda Region, the bear mom was scared away from the den by the logging work carried out nearby.

Yesterday morning we were already in the Vologda Department of Natural Resources, where we filled out all the necessary documents for transportation the cubs.

The journey from Vologda to the Center was long, 15 hours with stops just to feed the cubs, and only at 2 in the morning we reached the house.

Examination of the cubs showed no damage or injuries. This pair of cubs is bigger than the first 2: they weigh 1,400 - 1,600, the approximate age is about 3 weeks.

Considering that he cubs spent some time in the den without a mother, as well as their extremely young age, we cannot exclude the risk of developing pneumonia, the symptoms of which do not appear immediately... One bear cub has a good appetite, the second one is more problematic - not every time he eats well.
